on two separate occasions; in case you're unsure about the tone of this thing. He teams up with a young woman and together they attemp to destroy the dastardly evil doer! 1989

Fun cast of characters led by Julian Sands as the badass evil warlock. Julian Sands is great as the Warlock, he seems to take such pleasure in being not only evil, but also a complete dick. IMDb

There's some interesting locations and an appropriate balance of humour and seriousness. Ein bisschen zu lang, aber mit einigen lustigen Momenten und guten Performances. A warlock flees from the 17th to the 20th century, with a witch-hunter in hot pursuit. A finger, a tongue and a nice set of eyes, all within the first 20 minutes or so. However, it did feel a little bit long, perhaps 15 minutes could have been cut out. Post-rewatch thoughts: While there are bits of this which are fairly dated, I still enjoyed it quite a bit. Made by fans in Auckland, New Zealand. | Think Terminator from the past with Julian Sands, who makes an immediate impression as the evil witch. Official Sites A warlock flees from the 17th to the 20th century, with a witch-hunter in hot pursuit. ), Our warlock makes a bumpy landing in the future when he ends up crashing through the window of Lori Singer's place in Los Angeles, and has unknowingly been followed through the time portal by the witchhunter who first captured him (Richard E. Grant). Maybe a bit too much of a Terminator rip-off in order to call it great. Much of my interest in the occult, in magick, in theology can be traced back to Warlock and other films like it. No sooner has he come to in 1989 California than Warlock has severed a guy's finger just to acquire his fancy ring, then for good…, Surprisingly dope. The scariest element of the whole movie is Lori Singer's hair, which is unfortunate to say the least. It is the third film in a series that started with the 1989 Warlock. A creepy looking mother, I must say, and now the barefooted, blonde haired baddie has a mission; to undo creation. Because even though it's stupid, it's more creative than just beating him up. With a charming Julian Sands and berzerk Richard E. Grant performance. Warlock (1989) cast and crew credits, including actors, actresses, directors, writers and more. Review by HeavenSentbutHellRaised87 ★★★½. Interesting story and some great horror scenes (tongue bitten out of another person's mouth anyone??) What the Hell am I doing with my life?

| It has flaws by the bucket load.

Julian Sands and Richard E. Grant are wonderfully hammy as the 17th century warlock and his hunter. A witch hunter on his tail, a valley girl caught in the chaos, and something about a book that can un-create the entirety of existence... y'know, pretty low stakes stuff. Religious Horror (Witches, Warlocks, Cults, etc.). Jerry Goldsmith's score adds a respectability to the fantasy unraveling on screen, so it's just a shame the visual effects are a victim of budgetary constraints.

), Re-Recording Mixer (as Gregg Rudloff C.A.S. They took this classic apeshit 80's schlock out because of some stupid screening where the screeners laughed at the eyeball nipples and were offended by the violence imposed on the woman to retrieve the eyes! I could see how it could be a “cult classic” possibly, and you can clearly see and feel that it was made in the like, and time, of other films like Leprechaun. It's like digging up a time capsule buried back in the 80's! Company Credits Warlock has some really imaginative moments. Love Sands and Grant, but this movie was a little silly/ridiculous for my taste. So, I'm aware Warlock is not a very finely crafted piece of cinema.

Unless she's all covered in old lady make-up. Mobile site. An enjoyable little witchcraft flick which owes its mild success to Julian Sands and Richard E. Grant's stellar performances! Oh yeah Richard E. Grant says the words "I search hither, you search dither." Final Word: I hope one day for the release of an uncut version featuring the Woman channeler ripping open her blouse to display the eye's of satan which have curiously replaced her nipples! Those old age make up jobs are a special level of bad, especially for something to significant for the plot. Used to watch this one often as a kid. With a stronger female lead and some actual money spent of the visual effects, this would probably be more fondly remembered. Favorite horror for every year of my life except 2020 because 2020 ruins everything it touches with its scabrous claws, Movies that make you think about religion.

(Ya know, high stakes shit). A 17th century warlock and a witchhunter face off in 1988.
Too bad it goes a little downhill once the cat and mouse game starts. Julian Sands steals the show as the seductive Warlock and I always like movies where the supernatural being can be defeated by doing stupid things to him, like hitting nails into the footprints that he leaves behind. 1989 - Boston: Die Omen häufen sich, Warlock ist da, Satans Auftrag zu erfüllen. Julian Sands Lori Singer Richard E. Grant Mary Woronov Kevin O'Brien Richard Kuss Allan Miller Anna Levine David Carpenter Kay E. Really fun special effects, good dialogue, perfect casting of pompous & over-the-top in Julian Sands, and terrible wigs.

Redferne follows the diabolical enchanter into the 80’s but runs into a tad bit of  trouble in such unfamiliar ‘modern’ surroundings... hilarity ensues. Also, Richard E. Grant traverses a Scottish accent and comes through unscathed. The most substantial of my many unrealized works of fictions is a complicated saga about a final war between heaven and hell with vampire antiheroes caught in the….

I think the thing that intrigued me the most as a kid was its…, Here are the things from this film burned into my memory for all time: the tongue bit, the nails in footprints, the salt flats, and the threat of revealing the true name of God.

It's got that great Steve Miner pace and direction and it's basically a Black Magic Terminator movie in structure. Would love a long-gap sequel with Julian Sands reprisal. This isn't a slight, after all if you have to steal, steal from the best. The mythology developed throughout is straight-up dumb and I get the feeling the only reason this got green lit is because of the success of Highlander a couple years earlier. Lori Singer isn't the best leading lady but she's also not bad. A warlock flees from the 17th to the 20th century, with a witch-hunter in hot pursuit. Watching horror movies I've already seen. ), Re-Recording Mixer (as John Reitz C.A.S. Warlock is the tale of 17th-century New England, witch hunter Giles Redferne (lolol) and his quest to take down evil warlock who evades him by using supernatural powers to cast himself into the 1980s in hopes to continue his plan TO BRING ON THE END OF THE WORLD. Warlock is a really fun horror/action movie with some genuine creepy scenes and a surprisingly good Richard E Grant as the dashing strong hero.

(or is it? He also turns a channeler into Satan himself. He is sentenced to death for his activities, including the bewitching of Redferne's bride-to-be, but before the execution a demon appears and propels the Warlock forward in time to 20th century Los Angeles, California. My Preferred Spook Rewatches For Each Year of My Rotten Life! To retrieve the eye's the warlock freezes her then proceeds to stomp on her chest til she shatters so he can retrieve the eyes! Da reißt ein magischer Zyklon Warlock davon. All the films from my exploitation lists, bundled into one mega-super-list-to-rule-them-all! (Ya know, high stakes shit).
